The Pilbara region of Western Australia is home to some of the country’s most significant mining and resources operations — and, just as importantly, to a growing network of Indigenous-owned businesses driving real economic participation and community leadership across the region. On 2 July 2025, D&S Group had the privilege of attending the KDCCI Indigenous Business Tradeshow in Karratha, joining Indigenous entrepreneurs, community leaders and industry partners at the Red Earth Arts Precinct for a morning that celebrated culture, capability and connection.
The Karratha & Districts Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KDCCI) hosted the 2025 Indigenous Business Tradeshow as part of their ongoing commitment to fostering a vibrant and resilient business ecosystem across the Pilbara. Designed to showcase Indigenous business capabilities and create real procurement and networking opportunities, the event brought together an incredible cross-section of local businesses, government representatives and industry players — all under one roof at Karratha’s iconic Red Earth Arts Precinct.
It was an incredible opportunity to connect with local businesses, community leaders, and Indigenous entrepreneurs doing amazing things across the Pilbara — and we’re proud to stand alongside companies championing growth, collaboration and representation in the industry.
For D&S Group, attending events like this isn’t just a business activity — it’s an expression of who we are. Led by Managing Director Daniel Reardon, a proud Jaru Whadjuk man and one of the inaugural graduates of the Clontarf Academy, D&S Group was founded on the belief that Indigenous-owned enterprises should be at the front of the line in WA’s resources and infrastructure sectors — not an afterthought. The KDCCI Indigenous Trade Show is exactly the kind of platform that makes that vision a reality.
A heartfelt thank you to the Karratha & Districts Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KDCCI) for hosting such a meaningful event and for continuing to champion Indigenous participation in trade and business across the Pilbara. Events like this matter — and the KDCCI's commitment to creating real platforms for Indigenous enterprise is something D&S Group is proud to support and celebrate. We look forward to continuing to work alongside you.

About the Event
The event was designed to create procurement and networking opportunities for Indigenous businesses and to celebrate Indigenous enterprise across the Pilbara region. coordinate and ensuring consistency of service quality from a team they already trust.
Why Events Like This Matter
Indigenous Australians represent one of the world’s oldest and most enduring entrepreneurial cultures — yet historically, Indigenous-owned businesses have faced significant barriers to accessing procurement opportunities within the mining and resources sector in WA. That is changing, and events like the KDCCI Indigenous Business Tradeshow are a critical part of the shift.
The Pilbara is the economic engine of Western Australia, generating tens of billions of dollars in resources revenue annually. With major clients including Fortescue, BHP and Thiess operating across the region, D&S Group has seen first-hand that Tier 1 companies are increasingly committed to meaningful Indigenous procurement — not just as a compliance exercise, but as a genuine business strategy that delivers value and builds community. We are proud to be part of that movement, not on the sidelines of it.
Our Commitment to Indigenous Partnerships
At D&S Group, we value real partnerships — not token gestures. We are committed to working closely with Indigenous communities, businesses and organisations to help build strong, sustainable futures together across the Pilbara and beyond. This commitment is embedded in how we operate every day:
- Supply Nation Certified — verified Indigenous business, ABN 78 657 769 698, recognised across Federal and State government procurement frameworks
- Clontarf Foundation Partner — the first alumnus-led company to formally partner with the Foundation, creating employment pathways for young Aboriginal men
- KDCCI Member — active member of the Karratha & Districts Chamber of Commerce & Industry, supporting the Pilbara business community
- PIBNG Supporter — aligned with the Pilbara Indigenous Business Network Group to advance Aboriginal enterprise in the region
- Waalitj Hub Member — connected to the WA Aboriginal business ecosystem through the Waalitj Hub network
- Indigenous Cultural Competency Training — mandatory for all D&S Group staff, embedding respect and understanding into our workplace culture
For D&S Group, moments like the KDCCI Indigenous Business Tradeshow reinforce why we do what we do. Every contract we deliver, every partnership we build and every apprentice we bring into the business is a step toward a Pilbara — and a Western Australian resources sector — that truly reflects the communities it operates within. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and excited about the work still ahead.
